Belief Systems and Biases

A party that can rely on support no matter what it does has less reason to improve. It can take voters for granted. It can excuse poor leadership. It can treat criticism from its own supporters as betrayal rather than warning.

One hand protects the people. The other protects the structure. If the body only had one hand, it would not survive. A body that only looks for wounds bleeds out. A body that only looks for weakness breaks apart. Health comes from coordination, not domination. The real problem is not left or right. The real problem is when the hands forget they belong to the same body.

Moral immunity refers to the way people defend their moral beliefs by categorising information in a way that shields those beliefs from contradictory evidence. When facts threaten a person’s moral framework, their mind tends to reject or reinterpret those facts to maintain internal consistency. This process is often unconscious and automatic.
